Westview Lodge - Activities

Westview Lodge offers you many different and varied activities.

Firstly, we have TV connections in every room. Our staff will tune the channels on your TV. Make sure that you ask them to tune the M-NET channel. We have also wired the entire building for DSTV. All you need is a decoder. No dish is required.

A library is at your disposal for any type of reading you may desire. We subscribe to the Star and the Sunday Times. We also have a large selection of ‘books-on-tapes’.

A special taxi service is available. Should you want to visit family and friends or simply go out shopping, a registered carer will fetch you, accompany you to your destination, stay with you while you are attending to your business and bring you back.

The Vintage Club meets weekly at a neaby retirement village; the Village Bryanston. Membership costs approximately R100-200 per annum. They offer art classes and sewing classes on Tuesdays, lectures on a variety of subjects on Wednesdays and choirs on Thursdays morning and bible classes on Thursday afternoon. Tea and refreshments are served during the morning.

Golden Discovery, a group affiliated to the Baptist Church meets once a week in Randburg. Everyone is welcome to join. They serve tea and cakes.

We have weekly fitness classes at Westview Lodge. Our fitness instructor is Mrs Sheila Lord from SASFA (the South African Senior Fitness Association). Sheila organises exercises tailored for our residents combined with fun music from the “good old days”!

At Westview Lodge we are privileged to have Mally as our in-house divertional and occupational therapist. Mally has extensive experience with working with elderly people. Her responsibility is taking care of the residents’ entertainment and in-house activities.
